A Quick Guide on Precision Metal Stamping
Metal stamping is most common in the metal industry whereby it is the process of forming metal sheets to a desired shape or thing. And among this process one is considered what most manufacturers use. The precision metal stamping which sometimes is considered bit hard to describe, has some techniques to be employed to create different stamping impressions.
As defined, precision metal stamping is a simple process to create letters in 3D parts and other metal surfaces. Basically, this kind of stamping works through extreme pressing and forcing on a material to a desired form which is made into its metal surface. When done and removed, the stamping would result and leave the lettering, the form and die engraved in the material. This kind of stamping works well in different materials such as aluminum, copper titanium or alloy, but commonly, this kind of metal stamping is done on a metal sheet.
Precision metal stamping uses different types of equipment which varies from simple manual pressing to a more advanced die processor. There are even more complicated stamping processors which involves different levels of pressing in its entire fabrication process. Other more advanced and highly-engineered stamping models have a handsome speed to make an impressive 1,200 strokes in a minute. It all depends on the type of model a manufacturer uses for his production after all.
In this kind of metal stamping, five main techniques is necessary to be employed. They are the fourslide or multislide stamping, the deep drawing stamping, fine blanking and wireforming. Fourslide and multislide techniques both employed the incorporation of horizontal die presses in many directions, synchronizing or consecutive. This will result with an all-sides impression. In the same line, deep drawing method is being used when creating in-depth impressions using a punch. This is usually employed when the depth desired exceeds the width, like a pan created out of a flat metal piece.
Fine blanking technique on the same manner, is smoothly shearing the metal material all over the depth of the material. And wireforming technique uses metals into wire-like shapes like clips, rings, springs and the like. There can be said more other techniques that can still be applied in precision metal stamping but they are not commonly used or are only employed in compliment of these mentioned basic techniques.
As metal stamping develops, its process also increases to involve a more impressive die design used in several methods. The bottom-line of precision metal even using basic or more complicated techniques is that it produces from simple things to more complex items. And this kind of metal stamping offer all customers with many choices from the material used impressions and designs, equipments to employ up to the various designs available in the industry.
