Lots of Hollywood celebrities have linked in and are generally helping push the excitement, from Britney Spears to Kelly Osbourne and Kevin Bacon to Justin Timberlake. Youngsters heading back to school are putting on nerdy frames using nonprescription versions from a variety of stores that will be filling up their cabinets with these stylish frames.
The different big fashion companies such as Guchi, Armani, etc. have designed eye wear selections showcasing in plastic the favorite tortoise-shell frames which have a vintage feel for ladies. Menswear designer John Varvatos will unveil a limited-edition eyewear selection in September.
“This fall it’s all about re-discovering a geek-chic look,” said the vice president of EyeCare at LensCrafters. “Frames with a retro or vintage influence — for women it’s shown in a very moderate cat eye whereas for men it’s a large oblong shape.” Currently, (LensCrafters is offering fifty percent off lens with frames sold by Sept. 12.)
Whereas geek chic is probably not a look everyone, nerdy glasses can create a mantra. The look tells everyone, “See me, I am with it! I am way hip. Some contact wearers are now wearing glasses! After i first got contacts, you could not have caught me dead in a pair of glasses. Now, it is occurring often.
“Now, that creative designers are on board, and so many celebrities, such as Scarlett Johansson Hilary Duff, Sophia Loren among others , are all putting them on. It’s a bit like that downtown Los Angeles style. You are aware of, what you wear when not on the red carpet? – ripped jeans, T-shirts and glasses.”
It is time to step up and join the fashionistas, be stylish, be nerdy, be in!
