Generally the severity of the infection can be determined by how intense the texture of the discharge is. A vaginal white discharge can become extremely heavy, thick or be hardly anything and really light. It’s a mild version if you have a thin light version discharge and can be cleared up really quickly. But if the discharge is thick, very white, and has a “cottage cheese” consistency then you may be dealing with a yeast overgrowth.
This type of heavy discharge can become so severe that it will start to be a vaginal white discharge with blue specks in it. This type of extreme candida infection discharge will take on a appearance like a crumbled blue cheese.
This is definitely symptoms of a yeast infection that needs immediate attention. Now men can have a mild yeast infection without having a single symptom, a good way to tell with them is through their semen. Normally it is thin and white, but if it is thick and bright white, this may be an indication that he may be carrying the germ. Even if they show no other symptoms it is always a good idea to treat your spouse at the same time you are treating yourself.

Remembering to always wipe from front to back to stop the spread of bacteria is one good way to reduce the intensity of your normal discharge along with wearing loose clothing and cotton underwear.
Really the best tips to reduce your risk of a infection would have to be change out of wet clothes or swim suits as soon as possible. Take a bath or shower before and after intercourse or a vigorous workout and generally try to keep the moisture level down as much as you can.
